Summary
Develops, builds, and maintains scalable back‑end solutions in a multi‑product microservice architecture. Implements, tests, and supports web services and APIs utilizing standard frameworks and source‑control tools. Implements unit and functional tests and provides testing guidance for Quality Assurance. Experienced with AWS, API integration, modern DevOps practices and cloud‑based architecture. Collaborates with frontend developers, product managers, and DevOps to deliver backend services. Knows modern backend technologies, development tools and frameworks such as Ruby on Rails, Typescript or other object‑oriented languages. Strong knowledge of relational databases such as MySQL and Postgres. Familiar with document databases such as Redis. Work is closely managed and focused on projects of limited complexity in a support role. Essential Functions
Develops and maintains back‑end solutions within a microservice architecture, following established guidelines and under supervision. Implements unit and functional tests, following established guidelines and working under supervision. Collaborates with frontend developers, product managers, and DevOps to deliver backend services. Ability to communicate technical thoughts well through pull requests, commit messages, development stories, and documentation. Ability to write clean, testable, and well‑documented code while adhering to best practices and team coding standards. Appetite for continuous improvement and learning. Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in computer science, software engineering, or equivalent foundational experience. 0 to 1 year of experience with AWS, API integration, modern DevOps practices and cloud‑based architecture. 0 to 1 year of experience collaborating with other software engineers on the same project. 0 to 1 year of experience working within and maintaining componentized design systems. 0 to 1 year of hands‑on experience developing, maintaining and monitoring web applications. 0 to 1 year of experience with version control systems, preferably Git. 0 to 1 year of experience designing and implementing relational databases, including tools such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, and ActiveRecord. 0 to 1 year in the Retail, Transportation, and/or Supply Chain industries (preferred). Familiarity with agile methodologies and practices such as Scrum or Kanban – beginner level. Strong understanding of and experience with at least one modern web development language, ideally Ruby on Rails or Typescript – beginner level. Proficiency with Git – beginner level. Familiarity with strongly typed code – beginner level. Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs – beginner level. Experience with relational databases such as MySQL and Postgres, and ORMs – beginner level. Experience with monitoring tools such as Datadog – beginner level. Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform – beginner level. Working familiarity with document databases such as Redis – beginner level. Benefits
