Location: Radiology Department Date: 4/10/2025 Primary Function: Conducts or participates in routine and specialized Radiographic, CT, and/or Ultrasound examinations for which competency has been demonstrated. This requires independent judgment and the ability to adapt procedures to obtain specific diagnostic results under the direction of a Radiologist. Responsibilities:
Adjust Imaging equipment to correct settings for each examination, position, and instruct patients to obtain specified diagnostic information. 70-100% of the time. Prepares room, equipment, contrast, and materials as needed for patients.
70-100% of the time. Cleans and disinfects exam rooms and equipment as needed. 70-100% of the time. Prepares patients for procedures- explains the procedures, transfers the patient to the table, positions the patient, assists the patient at the end of the procedure, and explains to the patient how the patient will receive the results. 70-100% of the time. Follow prescribed techniques in administering general and specific Radiology, CT, portable/surgery, and/or Mammography exams. Adjust equipment; determines proper voltage, current, and desired exposure time; arranges immobilization and support devices; adjusts lead shields. 70-100% of the time. Observes patient and machine during procedures and reports any unusual occurrences and records and reports patient's condition as necessary. 70-100% of the time. Maintain stock supplies and report inventory to the supervisor and/or order needed items as requested. 10-30% of the time. Performs general office duties-Operates computer system, writes in log books, prepares patients' Radiology file in accordance with current policy and procedures. Practice good radiation safety by utilizing ALARA, shielding lead for self, patients, and others when needed. 90-100% of the time. Able to read, to change productively, and to handle other tasks assigned. Adheres to all hospital policies, including universal precautions. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients utilizing imaging services. Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patients' status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures.
Participates in ongoing in-service education and other training to increase knowledge of work-related issues. Qualifications:
High school graduate or equivalent. Satisfactory completion of an AMA or Joint Commission-accredited Radiography School. Satisfactory completion of the ARRT certification in Radiography. Licensed by the State of Illinois in Radiography.
Physical Demands/Work Environment: This position is subject to frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, magnetic and R/F fields and other conditions common to clinical environment. It is subject to inside environmental conditions and generally protected from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
