General Description

Responsible for managing and administering several projects and programs, usually of high complexity. Leads in the design, planning, and implementation of the assigned projects and provides project status reports, among others, to deliver them within the scope and time, according to the established budget and quality, and with the expected customer satisfaction in compliance with the company's goals and objectives.

Essential Functions

Manages projects of greater complexity and strategic programs in compliance with the policies, standards and procedures established by the EPMO and the department to ensure their successful completion and compliance with the applicable laws and regulations and the achievement of the objectives and goals assigned.

Develops and prepares performance reports for projects and programs administered by the unit and prepares and develops communications as deemed necessary by management.

Participates in project or program evaluations to identify opportunities for improvement and recommendations in formulating and implementing the project or program advancement or recovery strategies.

Develops and/or participates in defining and approving each project or program's scope, deliverables, and milestones and ensures that all relevant stakeholders are involved and committed.

Establishes and monitors compliance with a detailed work plan for each project or program consisting of the corresponding implementation phases, projected dates for completion of each phase and tasks, resources to be employed, process owners, and documentation of the status of each phase and tasks, including, but not limited to, the following efforts:

  • Ensuring the availability and allocation of human or technological resources.
  • Coordinating and/or leading meetings with internal and third-party resources to assign, monitor, document, update, and assist with project or program phases and tasks, as well as facilitating the search for alternative solutions to execute each project or program effectively.
  • Establishing and maintaining good relationships with all project or program stakeholders, including third parties, vendors, and/or suppliers.
  • Identifying, developing, reviewing, discussing, discussing, approving, and/or adjusting project or program communication.
  • Developing detailed status plans for project or program phases or tasks and monitoring their progress.
  • Creating, maintaining, and storing, fully and consistently, all project or program documentation in the EPMO's digital repository.
  • Monitoring the management of changes in project or program scope, time, quality, and costs using the appropriate tools and techniques for evaluation and acceptance.
  • Establishing corrective actions to mitigate any situations, deviations, or variations from project or program work plans.
  • Measuring, monitoring, interpreting, and evaluating a project or program performance and keeping all project or program stakeholders informed for appropriate action.
  • Reporting to management the performance, results, and effectiveness of projects or programs, identified failures or non-compliances, and the needs for development and/or corrective actions towards processes, operations, and/or personnel when needed.
  • Ensuring potential risks are identified, analyzed, and addressed promptly for each project or program.

Additional Functions

Must comply fully and consistently with all company policies and procedures, with local and federal laws as well as with the regulations applicable to our Industry, to maintain appropriate business and employment practices.

May carry out other duties and responsibilities as assigned, according to the requirements of education and experience contained in this document.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree preferably in Business Administration, Information Systems, or Computer Science. At least five (5) years of experience managing complex projects and/or programs in the areas of implementation, infrastructure, data structures, software, and web development technologies, preferably or equivalent in the Health Insurance Industry.

Proven experience may be replaced by previously established requirements.

Certifications / Licenses: Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification from the Project Management Institute (PMI), is preferred. If not licensed, must be committed to becoming certified within the next 12 months.

Other: Knowledge of MS Windows, MS Office, and MS Project, as well as project management methodologies, principles, and standards such as PMI, PRINCE, and CompTIA, among others.
