The Role The Solutions Architect plays a key role within the Digital Services group, with responsibilities spanning all regions of the company. This is a vital role in the development of overall Information/MES solution architectures for our customer. Successful applicants will contribute to every stage of the solution implementation process including consultancy, assessment, requirements gathering and specification, solution architecting and development, technical implementation, user training and commissioning. This position reports to the Director of Operations, Digital Services. Key Responsibilities Lead solution architecture (including functional re‑use), requirements specification, system design, construction, and implementation. Perform gap analysis and determine the best approach to close identified gaps. Act as functional lead on a variety of projects. Build relationships with key global partners within the manufacturing software scope. Partner with team leadership and global partners on strategy to drive adoption of partner product suites in North America. Maintain deep, domain‑specific knowledge of Information/MES solution architectures in the manufacturing software space. Mentor and develop colleagues across the corporation. Advise on AI and generative‑AI architecture within Convergix‑delivered solutions, including evaluation of integration patterns, data security boundaries, vendor options, and total cost of ownership. Guide customers on their AI strategy and roadmap, translating business outcomes into pragmatic, vendor‑aware architectures aligned to Convergix delivery. Qualifications and Experience 10+ years in the manufacturing software arena (Information / MES / IIoT), including lead‑architect accountability on multi‑site or enterprise‑scale deployments. Hands‑on experience in industrial manufacturing environments with working knowledge of industrial controls, PLC platforms, and OT/IT convergence. Proven track record leading end‑to‑end solution architecture — requirements, systems analysis, design, and implementation governance — across complex, multi‑stakeholder programs. Deep architectural experience across configurable and custom software, with mastery of application development methodologies, configuration management, middleware, networking, and integration patterns. Architectural‑level knowledge of relational and time‑series databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, InfluxDB) and the data‑modeling and integration trade‑offs across them. Demonstrated experience architecting enterprise‑to‑plant‑floor integrations (ERP, MES, SCADA, historian). Advanced experience designing solutions on the major industrial software platforms — Rockwell, Siemens, Aveva/Wonderware, and GE — with the ability to make pragmatic vendor‑selection recommendations. Demonstrated customer‑facing advisory experience — pre‑sales engagement, stakeholder workshops, and translating business outcomes into delivery architectures. Practical proficiency using GitHub Copilot and/or Claude in architecture, prototyping, and documentation workflows, with the judgment to validate, challenge, and refine AI‑generated output. Architectural fluency in generative‑AI and LLM patterns (retrieval‑augmented generation, agentic workflows, prompt and context design, model selection, evaluation, data residency, privacy) to inform build/buy and integration decisions. Project management experience an asset. Applied generative‑AI delivery experience (production LLM features, RAG systems, AI tooling integration) an asset. Experience advising external customers on AI strategy, roadmap, or vendor selection an asset. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to feel objects, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, talk and hear.
