What You'll Do
Assist in pediatric cardiovascular and OB surgical procedures, including Cesarean Sections, Dilations & Curettage, Tubal Ligations, and high-risk OB cases like Accreta and Ectopic Pregnancy. Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments, scopes, probes, and repair scopes/probes per high-level disinfection standards. Maintain aseptic technique throughout procedures, including decontamination and scope reprocessing. Support anesthesia and surgical teams by providing necessary tools and maintaining sterile fields. Monitor and ensure the proper functioning of surgical carts and crash carts. Adhere to safety protocols and protocols for infection control.
What You Need
Valid NBSTSA Certified Surgical Tech license (must be in hand prior to submission) BLS certification (Basic Life Support) Minimum of 1 year of surgical tech experience, preferably in OB, pediatric, or CVOR settings Strong skills in sterilization, scrubbing, high-level disinfection, and aseptic techniques Ability to work 3x12-hour shifts, call required, with experience in OB cases and high-risk surgeries preferred
About the Assignment This assignment is at a busy pediatric and OB surgical unit specializing in high-risk pregnancy cases, Cesarean sections, and complex OB procedures. The facility offers a dynamic environment with opportunities to work with diverse surgical teams. Note: Effective 11/30/24, Indiana-based RNs are not permitted to work at this facility, but perioperative and OR RNs, allied health professionals, and travelers are exempt.
