Job Summary: This role provides essential support services within the Operating Room environment. The Assistant Surgical Services Technician aids in room turnovers, restocking supplies, preparing materials for upcoming surgical cases, and assisting with patient transport to Perianesthesia areas. This position does not involve direct patient care or documentation responsibilities. Essential Responsibilities:
Fiscal Responsibility: Completes assigned tasks within designated timeframes, manages transportation duties, reports equipment issues, maintains cleanliness and orderliness of the work area, restocks supplies, and completes work orders as directed. Time and Supply Management: Efficiently uses time to obtain and store supplies and equipment, assists with operating room turnovers, changes linens on patient carts, and manages equipment docking. Staffing and Scheduling: Communicates promptly regarding availability, adheres to scheduling policies, seeks approval for time off or overtime, and respects work schedules and breaks. Quality: Collaborates as a team member in continuous quality improvement initiatives, applies sound judgment in patient-related tasks, suggests improvements to enhance patient experience, and stays current with policies. Patient Satisfaction: Advocates for patient rights, strives to improve patient comfort and satisfaction by providing necessary items and clear instructions, and communicates effectively to reduce patient anxiety. Patient Safety: Ensures all necessary documentation is complete before patient transport, safely transports surgical patients using proper identification and safety protocols, assists nursing staff during patient transfers, and responds appropriately to changes or emergencies. Professional Growth: Recognizes personal limitations and seeks learning opportunities, shares knowledge with colleagues, demonstrates leadership, and participates in departmental goal development and training. Customer Service: Upholds high standards of customer service, addresses ethical concerns, communicates respectfully with patients, families, and team members, and practices AIDET (Acknowledge, Identify, Duration, Explanation, Thank You) to engage patients and families. Education & Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent is required. Basic computer skills are necessary. Area-specific education may be required upon hire and must be maintained.
Work Shift: Day Shift This position is located in a regional healthcare facility serving the Midwest area of the United States.
