Position Overview A fast-growing commercial general contractor is seeking a Business Development Manager / Director of National Accounts to expand its portfolio of recurring commercial construction clients. This role is designed for a proven relationship-driven sales professional with a strong network and the ability to secure ongoing, multi-site construction opportunities across renovation, tenant improvement, capital upgrades, expansions, and facility construction projects. The company has grown through strong client relationships, execution quality, and repeat business, and is now looking to scale through larger, more strategic national and regional accounts. Ideal clients include organizations with ongoing construction needs across multiple locations, typically producing projects in the $250K–$1M+ range. Target Client Profile The ideal candidate will have established relationships across: Corporate real estate and facilities teams Property management groups Industrial and logistics companies Warehousing and distribution organizations Retail and restaurant chains Healthcare systems and providers Education institutions Developers and multi-site operators Faith-based and institutional organizations Key Responsibilities Build, manage, and grow a pipeline of commercial construction opportunities focused on recurring and national accounts Target and develop clients with project sizes typically starting at $250K+, scaling toward $1M+ engagements Develop relationships with decision-makers including executives, facilities managers, real estate directors, operations leaders, and property owners Prospect through outbound outreach, site visits, networking, referrals, associations, CRM activity, and strategic targeting Qualify inbound leads based on scope, margin, timeline, and strategic fit Partner with operations and project management teams to transition awarded work into execution Conduct client meetings, site walks, proposal presentations, and relationship development activities Maintain ongoing communication with existing clients to generate repeat business opportunities Help build and refine a scalable sales process, CRM structure, and pipeline discipline Represent the company professionally in the Southeast Michigan market and in national account engagements Ideal Candidate Profile 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, account management, or national accounts Strong preference for experience within commercial construction or related industries, including: General contracting Design/build Facilities services Property services Construction trades (MEP, roofing, paving, restoration, etc.) Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain a personal network generating recurring business Experience selling into facilities, real estate, operations, or capital project decision-makers Ability to manage both local/regional opportunities and national account relationships Strong outbound prospecting capability and high activity discipline Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate independently and drive results without heavy structure
