Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, providing compassionate and essential support to patients in a perioperative setting. As an Assistant Patient Care Technician (PCA), you will work under the guidance of licensed nurses to deliver direct patient care that promotes safety, comfort, and well-being. General Summary Under the supervision of a registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, or shift manager, you will assist with vital patient care tasks, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all patients. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control, safe patient handling, and timely communication of patient condition changes. Perform basic care duties such as monitoring vital signs, conducting glucometer checks, assisting with toileting, feeding, bathing, and mobility activities. Collaborate closely with nursing staff to meet patient needs promptly and enhance their overall experience. Accurately document all care activities to support clinical decision-making and quality outcomes. Effectively communicate relevant patient information to healthcare team members to improve care coordination.
Education High school diploma or GED preferred. Experience One year of related experience is preferred but not required. Certification and Licenses Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential preferred. Candidates without certification or with less than one year of experience will be required to complete a PCA training academy. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within the first 90 days of employment; training is provided. Mental and Physical Requirements This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, standing, walking, bending, and other movements necessary to assist patients safely. Working Conditions Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases through blood and bodily fluids is expected. Occasional interactions with challenging individuals may occur.
