Job Description Spenard Builders Supply is Alaska's choice for building materials and home improvements. Statewide, we service the needs of a variety of customers including residential and commercial builders, specialty contractors, government and other institutions, and especially do-it-yourselfers. Today, Spenard Builders Supply is owned by Builders FirstSource, the largest supplier of building products, prefabricated components, and value-added services to the residential construction market in the U.S. We provide customers an integrated homebuilding solution, offering manufacturing, supply, delivery and installation for a full range of structural and related building products.
What You’ll Do
Provides customer service primarily to retail customers, via walk-in, telephone or email, including assisting with customer inquiries on product selection, pricing, availability, refunds/exchanges requiring a working knowledge of company products, procedures and practices.
Actively engages in selling company products/services and related items. Provides material estimates and quotes for small packages (stairs, decks, fences, sheds, etc.).
Enters orders into system and schedules delivery of products.
Plans and paces own work efficiency in order to meet daily, weekly, project, or team related productivity goals.
Participates in coordinating and conducting customer workshops.
Handles and resolves simple customer complaints and forwards more complex issues to more senior staff for resolution.
Assists with store housekeeping, signage, stocking, inventory control, and other related activities.
Understands and observes all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers; attends periodic safety meetings as required; may recommend changes to improve safety procedures.
High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and six (6) months sales-related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Work Environment / Physical Activity
Subject to both typical office environment and outside locations with temperature and weather variations.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds frequently and on occasion up to 80 pounds.
Standing or walking for 80% of the day. Stooping and kneeling throughout the day.
Occasionally will use hand tools, saws, forklift, pallet jack to assist customers.
Reaching-extending the hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
