Assess and address patient needs, maintaining detailed care plans aligned with unit competencies and policies. Encourage patient independence by setting care goals and involving patients and families in discussions about medical issues, testing, medications, and self-care. Administer and evaluate medications accurately and timely, managing medication orders effectively. Educate patients and families on physical, emotional, and psychosocial care aspects, including disease processes, symptom and pain management, and end-of-life signs when appropriate. Complete timely and precise documentation following organizational policies. Observe and report changes in patients' physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual conditions. Maintain confidentiality and comply with privacy regulations regarding Protected Health Information (PHI). Foster effective communication and professional relationships with patients, families, healthcare teams, and external agencies.
Education: Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Licenses and Certifications: Current Registered Nurse licensure in a compact state required. BLS/CPR certification must be obtained within 30 days of hire or by orientation end. Additional certifications such as ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, NIHSS, or AWHONN may be required depending on department policy. Experience: Previous experience in a similar clinical environment is preferred. Skills and Abilities: Strong nursing fundamentals, effective communication, computer literacy, multitasking, and prioritization skills are essential. Physical Requirements: Ability to perform heavy work occasionally exerting up to 100 lbs and frequently up to 20 lbs. Expect to stand or walk 51-75% of the workday, with or without accommodation.
