*About the Role*
GL.iNet is expanding its U.S. engineering team and is seeking a *Principal Engineer / Architect* to serve as the technical leader for our U.S. operations.
This role is responsible for defining and leading the *end-to-end system architecture* across embedded firmware, networking systems, and cloud platforms. You will work closely with global R&D teams to drive technical direction and execution.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Lead architecture design across embedded systems and cloud platforms
* Define system standards, APIs, and integration patterns across product lines
* Drive technical roadmap for networking devices, IoT gateways, and remote access platforms
* Design scalable and secure systems supporting large-scale device deployments
* Provide technical leadership in Linux systems, networking stack, and system architecture
* Collaborate with global engineering teams, acting as a key technical bridge between U.S. and China teams
* Participate in technical design reviews and establish engineering best practices
* Support technical documentation related to regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g., FCC)
*Qualifications*
* 10+ years of experience in software, systems, or platform engineering
* 5+ years of experience in architecture-level roles across cloud and embedded/Linux systems
* Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and distributed systems
* Solid understanding of Linux systems, networking protocols, and system architecture
* Experience with IoT platforms, device management systems, or large-scale distributed systems
* Familiarity with networking technologies (TCP/IP, VPN, WireGuard, OpenVPN)
* Experience with DevSecOps or system security practices is a plus
*Language Requirements*
* Fluent in English
* Mandarin Chinese required for collaboration with global engineering teams
*Work Location*
* Northern Virginia (Hybrid)
* Ability to work across U.S. and China time zones
* Occasional travel to China (2–3 times per year)

Job Types: Contract, Full-time
Pay: $180,000.00 - $220,000.00 per year
