Responsibilities include assuring compliance with all pricing and reporting requirements legislated by CMS, the Department of Veterans Affairs, and any state legislation required for price reporting. This includes a full understanding of current legislation and staying abreast of pending legislation. The role requires mastery of Medicaid, Medicare Part B, Public Health Service (PHS)/340B, and Federal Supply Schedule (FSS) calculations, including TriCare and the Industrial Funding Fee (IFF). The Associate Director works collaboratively with Contracting Strategy to support overall strategy, contracting, and payment activities.
Typical Day
Calculate, validate, and report accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual government pricing.
Submit and monitor State Price Transparency regulations.
Explain calculation assumptions and methodologies and research and communicate causes of variances between periods.
Ensure compliant submissions, including G/L reconciliations, Class of Trade (COT) review, and PHS/340B eligibility review.
Review calculations with Senior Management, obtain approval signoff, and execute any required SOPs before communicating prices to agencies or internally.
Maintain and update SOPs and assumptions quarterly, related to Government Programs/Pricing.
Monitor policies, procedures, and processes to ensure ongoing compliance with internal and external requirements.
Estimate impact of pricing and policy changes on government pricing.
Perform pricing research and analysis on special projects as assigned.
Review commercial contract language regarding Best Price (BP), Average Sales Price (ASP), and FSS Tracking Customers.
Investigate government pricing trends, cross‑channel impact, and provide inputs to the Gross to Net (GTN) team.
Monitor for tracking‑customer violations, Bona Fide Service Fee treatments, and COT assignment.
Represent Government Pricing and Contract Operations on cross‑functional teams as a subject‑matter expert to evaluate and implement business strategies.
Liaise with Commercial Leadership, Pricing, Trade, Brand, and Accounting/Finance teams on issues impacting government pricing.
Apply Fair Market Value methodology to determine bona fide service fees paid to wholesalers, PBMs, and GPOs.
The Role May Be For You If
Understanding of current government pricing rules, regulations, and calculations.
Capability to identify problems, conduct analysis, and use judgment to determine existence of issues and propose solutions.
Highly analytical, able to interpret data and its commercial impact.
Ability to decipher calculations to determine key causes of variances.
Strong communication skills, capable of conveying information to all levels of the organization.
Process oriented.
Track record of managing competing priorities, meeting challenging deadlines, and working independently and across organizations.
Demonstrated attention to detail, accountability for results, flexibility, and adaptability in a rapidly changing environment.
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of experience in Government Pricing or a related field such as finance, accounting, Medicare/Medicaid, with strong analytical skills. The position may require occasional travel.
Salary Range (annually) \$114,800.00 – \$187,400.00
