Who you are Trilogy Innovations is seeking a detail-driven Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations in a government contracting environment. This role is responsible for payroll processing, accounts payable, expense reporting, reconciliations, and financial close support. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting skills, proven GovCon experience, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and professionalism.
This is a remote position located in AL, DC, MD, and VA.
What we are looking for
At least 2 years of experience in a government contracting finance or accounting environment
Hands-on experience with payroll processing, accounts payable, and employee expense reports
Strong understanding of compliance, documentation, and audit readiness standards
Ability to manage deadlines, prioritize tasks, and work independently with minimal supervision
High integrity and discretion when handling confidential financial data
Strong analytical mindset with the ability to identify discrepancies and resolve issues efficiently
Professional communication skills when coordinating with internal teams and vendors
Experience with Unanet is a strong plus, and familiarity with ADP or similar payroll systems is highly valued
What you will do
Process payroll cycles, audit payroll reports, resolve discrepancies, and coordinate updates related to hires, terminations, and compensation changes
Review and process assigned vendor invoices and employee expense reports, verify approvals and coding, and reconcile vendor statements
Assist with payroll tax reporting, documentation, and compliance tracking
Support audit activities by compiling financial data and preparing reports
Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash activity for assigned accounts

Clean reconciliations and well documented financial records
Responsiveness to internal teams and vendors
Compliance with GovCon financial standards and internal controls
What you BringWe require
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Minimum 2 years’ accounting experience
At least 2 years’ experience in government contracting environment
Demonstrated experience with payroll, accounts payable, and expense processing
Strong understanding of GAAP principles
Advanced Excel proficiency
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Ability to manage deadlines and work independently
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Unanet strongly preferred
Experience with ADP or similar payroll platforms
Prior exposure to DCAA compliant accounting practices
Experience supporting audits or contract financial reporting
