Behavioral Health Medical Assistant

Location: Beloit, WI Reports to: Psychiatric Services Manager

Summary: The Certified Medical Assistant provides direct support in delivering high-quality behavioral health and patient care services. Working as part of an integrated medical team, this role performs both administrative and clinical duties to ensure smooth clinic operations and excellent patient experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare patients for examination and treatment; record medical history and vital signs
• Assist providers during exams, procedures, and minor surgeries
• Administer injections and medications within scope of practice
• Process medication refills following provider protocols
• Collect and process lab specimens and assist with diagnostic tests
• Maintain treatment rooms, instruments, and equipment, ensuring proper sterilization
• Review charts and reports for upcoming appointments and prepare necessary materials
• Schedule patient tests and coordinate care as directed
• Maintain accurate patient records and compliance-related logs
• Support quality assurance, safety, and Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) initiatives
• Maintain patient confidentiality and follow all CHS policies and regulatory standards

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Certified or Registered Medical Assistant preferred
• BLS Certification (bi-annual) required
• 12 years of experience in a medical office or clinical setting preferred
• Experience working with patients with mental health or substance use disorders a plus
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred
• Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills
• Knowledge of medical terminology, safety procedures, and HIPAA compliance
