Healthcare Data Scientist/Engineer

Location: This role can be in any CGI office, however, Knoxville is the preferred location.
Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines to ingest healthcare data (Claims, EMR/EHR, Pharmacy, and Lab results).
Develop and deploy machine learning models for risk stratification, disease prediction, and utilization management.
Work with healthcare data standards, including FHIR, HL7, and ICD-10/CPT coding.
Ensure the integrity and security of Protected Health Information (PHI) in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Collaborate with clinical staff and business stakeholders to translate complex data into clear visual stories and strategic recommendations.
Required Qualifications
Education:
Master’s or bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field.
Experience:
5+ years of experience in a data‑centric role, specifically within the healthcare or health insurance industry. Minimum one year of familiarity with payer/payor operations within healthcare strongly expected.
Technical Stack:
Languages: Proficiency in Python (Pandas, Scikit-learn, PySpark) and advanced SQL.
Cloud: Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and big data tools (Databricks, Snowflake).
Tools: Experience with orchestration tools (Airflow), Databricks, version control (Git).
Domain Knowledge: Deep understanding of healthcare revenue cycles or payer operations, or clinical informatics.
Preferred Skills
Experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP) for unstructured clinical notes.
Familiarity with visualization tools like Tableau or PowerBI.
Knowledge of Medical Claims lifecycle and Quality Measures (HEDIS/STARS).
Compensation A reasonable estimate of the current range for this role in the U.S. is $89,600.00 – $188,100.00.
