Job Overview:

We are seeking a Hydraulic Cylinder Tester/Assembler to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the assembly, testing, and inspection of hydraulic cylinders to ensure they meet operational specifications and quality standards. This position requires hands-on experience with hydraulic components and assembly processes, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

Assembly:

  • Assemble hydraulic cylinders according to engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Work with hydraulic seals, pistons, rods, and other components to assemble cylinders efficiently.
  • Ensure all components are clean, inspected, and meet quality standards before assembly.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment (e.g., hydraulic presses, wrenches) to assemble hydraulic cylinders.
  • Ensure that the assembly process follows all safety guidelines and quality control procedures.
  • Perform functional testing on sub-assemblies and final assemblies to verify proper functionality.

Testing:

  • Test hydraulic cylinders to ensure they meet pressure and load-bearing specifications.
  • Perform hydraulic pressure tests, leak tests, and other functional tests to verify the integrity and performance of the cylinders.
  • Record and document test results, noting any issues or deviations from specifications.
  • Troubleshoot and identify problems in cylinder performance, such as leaks, pressure issues, or defective components.
  • Work with the quality team to develop and implement improvements to testing procedures as needed.
  • Calibrate testing equipment and ensure it is in good working condition.

Inspection & Quality Control:

  • Inspect hydraulic cylinder components and assemblies for defects or damage before and after assembly.
  • Conduct final inspections and measure tolerances to ensure that cylinders meet customer and engineering requirements.
  • Ensure all testing and inspection data is accurately documented and entered into production logs.
  • Work closely with the quality control department to maintain the highest standards of product quality.
  • Adhere to all safety and environmental guidelines during assembly and testing procedures.

Maintenance & Equipment Care:

  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of hydraulic test rigs and assembly tools.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or issues to the supervisor for timely repairs.
  • Follow best practices for tool and equipment maintenance to ensure optimal performance and safety.

Collaboration & Communication:

  • Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and engineers to ensure efficient production flow.
  • Follow assembly and testing schedules to ensure timely delivery of finished products.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to assembly and testing processes.

Qualifications & Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in hydraulics, mechanical engineering, or related field preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in hydraulic cylinder assembly, testing, or similar mechanical assembly roles.
  • Experience with hydraulic testing equipment, including pressure gauges, test rigs, and flow meters.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of hydraulic systems.

Skills:

  • Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
  • Hydraulic Knowledge: Familiarity with hydraulic components, assembly processes, and testing procedures.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong focus on quality control, precision, and attention to detail in assembly and testing.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to identify problems during assembly or testing and work with the team to resolve them.
  • Tools and Equipment: Experience using hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, and hydraulic presses.
  • Documentation: Ability to accurately document test results and assembly processes.

Additional Skills & Preferences:

  • Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Safety Focus: Knowledge of safety procedures in a manufacturing or assembly environment, especially in handling hydraulic systems.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift heavy components (up to 50 lbs), stand for extended periods, and work in a physically demanding environment.

What We Offer:

  • Competitive hourly wage with potential for overtime.
  • Health and safety-focused work environment.
  • Opportunities for career growth and development.
  • On-the-job training and mentorship.
