Our New York City, New York office is seeking a detail-oriented Shipping Clerk to manage and oversee the shipping process. This role is crucial for ensuring that all outgoing shipments are accurately processed, documented, and dispatched in a timely manner. You will be responsible for coordinating with carriers, preparing shipping labels, and maintaining shipping records. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of logistics and shipping procedures, with a keen eye for accuracy and efficiency. Safety is a top priority in our busy shipping department.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and process all outgoing domestic and international shipments.
- Generate and apply shipping labels and documentation accurately.
- Schedule pickups with various shipping carriers (e.g., FedEx, UPS, USPS).
- Verify shipment details against orders to ensure accuracy.
- Track shipments and provide updates to relevant parties.
- Maintain organized and up-to-date shipping records.
- Communicate effectively with warehouse staff, carriers, and customers regarding shipments.
- Ensure compliance with all shipping regulations and company policies.
- Handle any shipping-related inquiries or issues that arise.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), to ensure a safe logistics environment.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a similar logistics role.
- Proficiency with shipping software and common carrier platforms.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with lifting requirements and safe material handling practices.
- Knowledge of international shipping regulations is a plus.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced urban environment.
