Automotive Service Advisor

Overview
We are seeking a professional and customer-focused Automotive Service Advisor to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary point of contact for customers needing vehicle maintenance and repairs, ensuring a seamless service experience. This role requires excellent communication skills, automotive knowledge, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Experience in dealership operations, auto service management, and automotive diagnostics will be highly valued. The Service Advisor will coordinate between customers and our skilled technicians to deliver quality service and build lasting customer relationships.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers promptly and professionally, understanding their vehicle concerns and service needs
• Explain repair and maintenance services clearly, providing accurate estimates and timelines
• Upsell additional services or repairs based on vehicle diagnostics and customer needs
• Write detailed service orders and estimates, ensuring accuracy for both the customer and the shop
• Coordinate with technicians to prioritize repairs, track progress, and communicate updates to customers
• Handle cash transactions, process payments, and manage service write-ups efficiently
• Maintain thorough knowledge of automotive repair procedures including transmissions, oil changes, brake repair, suspension, tire service, diesel engine repair, shocks & struts, air brake systems, alignment, auto body repair, and other mechanical services
• Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction through professional communication and follow-up
• Assist in managing parts inventory and ensure proper documentation of all services performed

Requirements

• Proven experience as an Automotive Service Advisor or in a similar dealership or auto service management role
• Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics, mechanical systems, and repair procedures including transmissions, oil changes, brake repair, suspension systems, tire services, diesel engines, shocks & struts, auto body repairs, air brakes, alignments, and other automotive repairs
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to upsell services tactfully
• Experience with auto estimating software and service writing is preferred
• Mechanical knowledge or mechanic experience is a plus to better understand technician reports and communicate effectively with customers
• Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and professionally
• Strong sales skills with a focus on automobile sales when applicable
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is preferred
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical certifications are advantageous
