Grow Your Sales Career at an Award-Winning KC Firm
Looking for a sales role that values your research and strategy skills as much as your grit?
Spotlight is a growth-focused firm in the KC Crossroads that bridges the gap between software companies and the world's most influential industry analysts. We are a consistent KC Business Journal "Best Place to Work" winner, and we are currently seeking our first Partnership Business Development Representative to help us expand our network of strategic allies.
What You'll Do
- Ecosystem Mapping: Research the VC and PE landscape to identify firms whose portfolio companies are a perfect fit for a partnership with Spotlight.
- Strategic Outreach: Initiate conversations with partners to explore how a relationship with Spotlight can add value to their existing networks.
- Relationship Management: Act as the first point of contact for potential partners, nurturing the relationship from a cold introduction to a formal alliance.
- Collaborative Strategy: Work closely with our Director of Partnerships to identify new "win-win" scenarios where Spotlight can help partners' clients grow.
What We're Looking For
We are relaxing the traditional "years of experience" requirement in favor of strategic thinkers who understand how to build relationships. This role is a great fit if:
- You are Curious: You love learning how businesses work and what makes a software product unique.
- You are Research-Driven: You are comfortable digging into VC portfolios and industry news to find the right entry points.
- You are Professional & Credible: You can hold your own in conversations with high-level stakeholders, from VC associates to Tech Founders.
- You are Persistent: You understand that building a partnership takes time and requires thoughtful, consistent follow-up.
Preferred (But Not Required) Background
- Any experience in a professional environment (internships, office settings, or project management).
- A background that required research or hitting goals.
- Familiarity with LinkedIn, CRM tools, or professional research.
- A Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
Expected start date for this position is Q1 2026.
