Home-Based Therapist

JRole Summary

The Home-Based Therapist provides clinically focused, trauma-responsive mental health services to children and families involved with the Indiana Department of Child Services. This role addresses emotional, behavioral, and relational challenges that impact child safety, stability, and permanency.

Services are delivered in the home or community and must align with DCS service standards, treatment planning requirements, and evidence-based practices.

Core Responsibilities

• Conduct clinical assessments and biopsychosocial evaluations
• Develop Preliminary Treatment Plans and Master Treatment Plans
• Provide weekly therapeutic sessions using evidence-based modalities
• Address trauma, emotional regulation, and family dynamics
• Monitor and respond to safety risks (SI/HI, abuse, neglect, DV)
• Collaborate with DCS, schools, courts, and other providers
• Participate in CFTMs and case consultations
• Maintain ethical and professional boundaries
• Complete documentation within required timelines
• Provide clinical recommendations aligned with DCS goals

Minimum Qualifications (DCS-Aligned)

• Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Marriage & Family Therapy, or a closely related mental health field
• Licensed or license-eligible in the State of Indiana, including but not limited to:

– LSW / LCSW
– LMHC / LMHCA
– LMFT / LMFTA

• Eligible to practice under supervision if not fully licensed

Required Clinical Experience

• Experience providing therapy to children, adolescents, and/or families
• Experience with trauma, attachment disruption, emotional dysregulation, or behavioral challenges
• Ability to assess risk and develop safety plans
• Experience documenting clinical services for compliance or reimbursement

Preferred Experience

• Experience working with DCS-involved families or CHINS cases
• Training in evidence-based practices such as:

– Trauma-Focused CBT
– CBT
– DBT
– Motivational Interviewing
– Family Systems Therapy

• Experience providing services in home or community settings

Required Credentials & Clearances

• Active Indiana license or associate license
• Professional liability insurance
• CPS/CPI background check clearance
• Fingerprinting clearance
• Valid driver's license
• Reliable transportation
• CPR/First Aid certification
• Car Seat Safety training (if transporting children)

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $ $65.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 45 per week
