Job Title: Orthopedic Medical Assistant (MA)

Job Summary:

The Orthopedic Medical Assistant supports orthopedic physicians and healthcare providers in delivering patient care. This role includes clinical and administrative responsibilities such as assisting with exams, preparing patients, taking vitals, performing diagnostic tests, and supporting orthopedic procedures like casting and splinting.---Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Duties:

· Assist orthopedic physicians during patient examinations and minor procedures.

· Prepare and position patients for x-rays, casting, splinting, injections, or surgeries.

· Take and record patient vital signs, medical history, and chief complaints.

· Apply and remove casts, splints, braces, and other orthopedic devices under supervision.

· Remove sutures or staples and change dressings on wounds.

· Administer medications or injections as directed by the physician (if certified).

· Educate patients on orthopedic care plans, post-op instructions, and mobility aids.

· Clean and sterilize equipment and exam rooms following infection control protocols.

Administrative Duties:

· Schedule appointments, diagnostic tests, and follow-ups.

· Maintain accurate patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems.

· Verify insurance and obtain prior authorizations for imaging or procedures.

· Coordinate with physical therapy, radiology, and surgical teams as needed.

· Answer patient questions via phone or patient portal regarding care or medications.---

Qualifications:

· Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.

· Certification (CMA, RMA, or CCMA) preferred or required depending on the practice.

· Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

· Experience in orthopedic or musculoskeletal care strongly preferred.

· Familiarity with EMR systems and basic computer skills.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.---

Pay: $ $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 per week
