Job Description Summary Lead Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Embedded Software Engineer works within the I&C Engineering team of the GE Vernova Hitachi Nuclear Energy (GVH) Engineering organization. The role focuses on designing and implementing I&C electronic hardware and software for nuclear power plants. Responsibilities Develop creative solutions and reduce complexity to create accurate and effective solutions for complex engineering problems. Prepare design specifications, develop software, perform module testing, and integration testing of the design. Perform code reviews and verify design specifications and reports. Engage customers to define scope, review results, and discuss technical risks. Perform integration testing of software solutions using Hardware‑in‑the‑Loop (HIL) simulation and full end‑to‑end operational testing. Work with the technical lead to establish an effective work plan, including time estimates, schedule estimates, requirements, and work processes. Apply engineering fundamentals and first‑order engineering principles to establish and confirm expected performance. Provide clear and complete analysis documentation in accordance with GVH engineering procedures. Manage time effectively to deliver quality deliverables within the expected project timeline. Communicate the status of work activities to leadership. Provide leadership and mentoring to junior staff. Effectively manage multiple priorities. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in electrical, computer or software engineering from an accredited college or university. Minimum 5 years of embedded software development experience, including a deep working knowledge of the C programming language and software development tools (GitLab, IDEs, debuggers). Minimum 5 years of experience with C coding conventions, unit testing and integration testing of software. Eligibility to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export‑controlled information. Desired Qualifications Experience with C coding standards that meet desired functionality and familiarity with MISRA‑C. Ability to solve technical challenges through common design patterns and appropriate data structures and algorithms. Leadership experience inside and/or outside the classroom. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to articulate clearly. Experience with software development in industry‑standard environments such as DO‑178 and SEAL. Knowledge of common development paradigms (Agile, Waterfall). Eligibility Requirements Role requires access to U.S. export‑controlled information. Final offers will be contingent upon obtaining authorized access from the U.S. Government. Benefits Competitive compensation range of $98,400–$164,000 with geographic differential.
