ABOUT THIS ROLE
Apex Fintech Solutions is seeking a Manager, Software Engineering to join our Wealth team. You will play a pivotal role in leading engineering teams and collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams and managers to deliver cutting‑edge projects that shape the future of our industry. This is not just a people‑management role; it's an opportunity to lead with vision, influence, and strategic thinking in a fast‑paced environment. You will be at the forefront of our Agile development initiatives, ensuring that our solutions not only meet but exceed our stakeholders' expectations.
In this role, you will wear multiple hats from strategic planning and risk management to hands‑on design, architecture and execution of software development initiatives, working with highly talented software engineers, empowering you to make a significant impact on our delivery outcomes and company growth. Your leadership will inspire teams, foster collaboration and drive innovation, creating a culture of excellence that echoes throughout the organization.
We are building the next generation of wealth technology on Google Cloud. Our platform is moving to a cloud‑native, multitenant architecture that lets any firm, from a startup to a global bank, launch and scale digital investing experiences on our rails.
AI is central to how we will get there. Not as hype, but as an engineering leverage. We are building systems that use AI to validate architecture, enforce compliance, detect drift, and accelerate every phase of development, all with the guardrails and governance that financial services demand.
The person in this role will shape both the platform that serves millions of investors, and the engineering practices that make our teams faster, safer, and more effective. This is not a role where you maintain what exists. This is a role where you build what comes next.
Duties/Responsibilities
Lead a team of developers in building high-quality, scalable, and resilient distributed systems.
Foster an environment of rapid learning and adaptation to new technologies, tools, and frameworks.
Oversee the design, implementation, and management of our engineering initiatives.
Maintain high standards in version control using Git and ensure robust test automation practices are in place.
Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams to ensure the integration and deployment of best‑in‑class financial services solutions.
Drive the development and maintenance of RESTful services, microservices, and service‑oriented architectures.
Facilitate the continuous integration and delivery pipelines for seamless deployment and scalability.
Manage and mentor engineering teams, encouraging continuous improvement and professional growth.
Travel occasionally to meet with engineering teams, stakeholders, and to stay aligned with industry advancements.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent work experience) required.
8+ years of work experience in software development.
2+ years of leading engineering teams.
Experience in financial services or a similar heavily regulated industry is preferred.
Proven experience in Agile Development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc) and project management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
Required Skills/Abilities
Proficient in managing version control systems, preferably Git.
Advanced knowledge of software testing and automation tools.
Strong foundational understanding of software development best practices.
Ability to adapt quickly to new technologies and lead teams in learning and implementing these technologies.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.
Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to think strategically about technology‑driven solutions.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
Proficiency in cloud‑based (GCP) backend systems and micro‑service architecture to ensure scalability and reliability.
Solid understanding of DevOps principles with hands‑on experience in CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
Understanding of security best practices for APIs, backend systems, and infrastructure.
Familiarity with financial systems, trading and accounting concepts, and compliance within regulated environments to build high‑quality and secure solutions.
Work Environment
This job operates in a hybrid, office environment 3 days per week.
