This position is responsible for leading the facility's quality control activities and supervising quality control personnel. The Quality Control Manager works closely with stakeholders in key manufacturing and business processes to ensure that the facility's operations comply with Quality Management System requirements and demonstrate continuous improvement. This position serves as the Management Representative for Quality for the facility, which entails reporting to executive management on the performance of the Quality Management System, communicating with external parties (including hosting customers, their representatives, and accreditation bodies), and assisting the Quality Assurance group on quality improvement initiatives.

1. This position reports to the Plant Manager and may have 10 to 20 direct reports
2. Ensure that the Quality Policy is communicated, implemented, and maintained throughout the facility
3. Serve as the facility's Management Representative for Quality
4. Select, onboard, train, supervise, evaluate, and develop quality control employees to be successful in their roles
5. Serve as an advocate for the customer, clarifying and reinforcing customer expectations, and fostering a culture of quality
6. Conduct process audits of key manufacturing and business processes to ensure conformance with QMS requirements, and to identify opportunities for improvement
7. Monitor production processes, and intervene when appropriate to support process control
8. Contain, evaluate, and disposition nonconforming product; investigate root cause of nonconformances; and develop, implement, and evaluate corrective actions
9. Support the timely and effective resolution of customer complaints, including performing field work when assigned
10. Collect, analyze, and report data related to quality, such as costs of poor quality
11. Review, validate, and retain quality records and associated reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness
12. Assist team members with interpretation of shop drawings and specifications, QMS requirements, and customer specifications, including obtaining clarification from other functions to ensure that quality requirements are understood and met
13. Assist with the development, delivery, and evaluation of employee training and development
14. Assist with the development, review, and implementation of QMS documents
15. Perform inspection and testing duties assigned, which may include visual/dimensional inspection, welding inspection, coating inspection, and non-destructive testing
16. Serve on cross-functional teams to support improvements in organizational performance
17. Establish and maintain professional working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
18. Other duties as assigned

• Bachelor's degree with 3 years of quality control experience or Associate's degree with 6 years of quality control experience or 9 years of quality control experience
• Excellent leadership, problem solving, planning, customer service, and written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
• Knowledgeable about welding inspection, coating inspection, and non-destructive testing
• Knowledgeable about basic quality tools, such as a pareto chart, a fishbone diagram, and root cause analysis
• Basic knowledge of statistical process control and process capability
• Knowledgeable about steel fabrication operations, such as thermal cutting, forming, welding, painting, galvanizing, and non-destructive testing
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Able to make informed, rational, data-driven decisions
• Able to persuade and motivate others
• Able to interpret codes and standards, shop drawings, and specifications

• Previous quality control management experience in an AISC-certified heavy fabrication environment
• SNT-TC-1A VT Level II, MT Level II, and UT Level II certifications
• AWS CWI certification
• NACE CIP Level I certification
• Certification as a quality manager or quality engineer (e.g. ASQ CMQ/OE or ASQ CQE)
• Formal Lean Six Sigma training or experience leading Lean Six Sigma projects
