Other Conditions: Position is expected to begin July 2026 or as mutually acceptable.
Because of the temporary nature of these appointments, Casual Hire employees are not eligible for most benefits as provided to regular Board of Regents (BOR) and Civil Service employees (i.e., paid holidays/leave). Casual Hire appointments may last for up to 89 days for full‑time employees and up to 1 calendar year for part‑time employees.
Duties and Responsibilities
Develop secure database architecture using a commercial no‑code platform, easily administered by an in‑house data specialist.
Audit and document all data and reporting requests made across an academic year by various stakeholders.
Centralize disparate data formats currently held by multiple parties, integrating them cleanly into a unified database structure.
Catalog existing data types, formats, and sources across multiple parties and establish security protocols based on institutional data governance requirements.
Design and implement robust data backup and recovery systems.
Ensure the system architecture is feature‑rich and flexible for seamless integration with other existing platforms.
Implement testing procedures to proactively identify and resolve database errors.
Implement web‑accessible data analytics and visualization tools tailored for faculty and staff use.
Build specific reporting templates focused on student retention analytics.
Create thorough technical documentation, data dictionaries, and user guides to ensure smooth handoff.
Train administrators and users on how to use the system.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Analytics, Database Administration, or Management Information Systems and three (3) years of progressively responsible professional IT experience with responsibilities for database design, development, and data modeling (e.g., SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
Considerable working knowledge of database design, development, and data modeling, demonstrating broad knowledge of evolving IT concepts, principles, and methodology.
Understanding of the technology, systems, hardware and software associated with database design, development, and data modeling.
Ability to recognize a wide range of intricate problems, use reasoning and logic to determine accurate causes, and apply principles and practices to develop practical and thorough solutions in an effective and timely manner.
Proven ability to comprehend, interpret, and implement administrative directives and guidance to ensure IT operations align with organizational standards and industry best practices.
Ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally, and through reports and other materials.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
Experience in ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, specifically merging disparate data formats and consolidating decentralized data silos.
Experience building or integrating web front‑ends with databases and implementing data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, or custom web‑based dashboards).
Understanding of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
Desirable Qualifications
Strong verbal and written skills to translate complex, technical data concepts into actionable advice for non‑technical users.
Project experience using Airtable, Knack, Smartsheet, or Tableau.
