In this role, you will manage a team responsible for software on storage devices and over‑the‑air updates on Kuiper satellites. Our mission is to ensure robust systems software to all compute systems on the satellite, focusing on reliability, safety, and security.
Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low‑latency, high‑speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities worldwide. You will bring this vision to life by designing, developing, and testing the embedded software that controls individual satellites.
Key job responsibilities
Hire and support top talent to meet goals of the team.
Define and drive the multi‑year vision for the team.
Oversee resource allocation to ensure appropriate business and staff development goals are met.
Participate in strategic planning to achieve technical and business goals.
Work closely with engineers to architect and deliver the best technical designs and approaches.
Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Basic Qualifications
3+ years of engineering team management experience.
7+ years of working directly within engineering teams.
3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) new and existing systems.
8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi‑tier web services.
Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and live‑site operations.
Experience in embedded systems projects.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy.
Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers.

The base salary range for this position is $184,900.00 – $250,200.00 USD annually. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
