This role offers an excellent opportunity for a HR professional seeking broad exposure across operational HR, employee relations and organisational development, while also contributing to significant strategic projects including the implementation of a new Human Resources Information System and the development of workforce data, reward and people analytics capabilities.
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the HR Generalist will support managers and employees across a number of Jesuit ministries and entities, providing advice, administration and project support across recruitment, employee relations, HR operations, compliance, and systems development.
The HR Generalist will play a key role in delivering professional and proactive HR support across the employee lifecycle, helping to ensure that people practices are legally compliant, operationally effective and aligned with organisational values.
Key Responsibilities HR Operations & Employee Lifecycle Provide first-line HR support to managers and employees on HR policies, procedures and employment-related matters.
Prepare employment contracts, offer letters and employee correspondence.
Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems in compliance with GDPR requirements.
Coordinate onboarding, induction, probation and offboarding processes.
Support the implementation and consistent application of HR policies and procedures.
Maintain HR trackers, personnel files and employment records.
Recruitment Coordinate recruitment campaigns from advertising through to appointment.
Support interview and selection processes.
Manage pre-employment checks, references and Garda Vetting requirements.
Ensure recruitment practices comply with employment legislation, safeguarding requirements and organisational policies.
Deliver a positive candidate experience that reflects the values of the organisation.
Support hiring managers with recruitment administration and documentation.
Employee Relations & Manager Support Provide guidance to managers on attendance, performance, probation, disciplinary, grievance and dignity-at-work matters.
Support employee relations processes and assist with the preparation of associated documentation.
Attend meetings and maintain accurate records where required.
Promote the fair and consistent application of policy, procedure and employment legislation.
Escalate complex cases appropriately and support the implementation of agreed outcomes.
Compliance, Payroll & Governance Support compliance with Irish employment legislation and HR best practice.
Assist in the review and development of HR policies and procedures.
Liaise with payroll regarding starters, leavers, contractual changes, leave and absence administration.
Support HR reporting, audits and governance requirements.
Assist with the preparation of workforce data and management reports.
Learning, Engagement & Wellbeing Coordinate learning and development activities and maintain training records.
Support performance review and probation processes.
Assist with employee engagement, wellbeing and organisational culture initiatives.
Support staff communications relating to HR policies, benefits and people initiatives.
Promote an inclusive, respectful and positive working environment.
HR Projects Support the implementation of a new Human Resources Information System (HRIS) through data gathering and preparation, testing, process mapping and user adoption activities.
Contribute to the review and improvement of HR processes and workflows.
Collect, analyse and maintain workforce data to support organisational decision-making.
Assist with compensation and benefits initiatives, including salary benchmarking, workforce analysis and reward-related projects.
Support the development of people metrics, reporting and workforce analytics capabilities.
Contribute to wider organisational development, HR transformation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Person Specification Essential Degree-qualified with 3 years' experience in a HR Generalist or Senior HR Officer role Good working knowledge of Irish employment legislation and HR best practice.
Experience supporting recruitment, employee relations and HR administration processes.
Experience preparing employment documentation and maintaining HR records.
Strong administrative and organisational skills.
Excellent written and spoken English Experience using HR systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Excellent interpersonal, communication and relationship-building skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion, professionalism and integrity.
CIPD qualification or working towards membership is desirable.
Desirable Experience in a charity, education, healthcare, social care, faith-based or mission-led organisation.
Experience supporting Garda Vetting or safeguarding processes.
Experience supporting payroll administration.
Experience participating in HR systems implementation projects.
Experience supporting compensation, benefits or workforce reporting activities.
Experience working across multiple sites, entities or business units.
