Job Summary: Provide essential clinical support in the operating room, assisting anesthesia providers, surgeons, and team members with procedural tasks to ensure smooth and safe surgical care. This role requires adherence to established standards for instrument processing and patient safety. Essential Responsibilities
Assist anesthesia, surgeons, and OR staff with procedural duties and equipment management. Monitor and process instruments and equipment following manufacturer and professional guidelines for cleaning, decontamination, and sterilization. Prioritize tasks effectively, adjusting to changes in department activity and resource availability. Support nursing staff by obtaining specialized supplies promptly without compromising patient care. Collaborate with the surgical team to plan and adjust patient care provisions intraoperatively. Maintain a professional, quiet environment and exemplify excellent guest relations with patients, visitors, and colleagues. Adhere strictly to HIPAA regulations and sterile field protocols, reporting any breaches immediately. Participate in ongoing professional development, sharing knowledge and mentoring peers and new staff. Foster strong relationships with physicians, anesthesia providers, and other healthcare professionals to enhance patient flow and care quality. Education and Certification
Current certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the appropriate state board. Experience and Requirements
Previous experience in an operating room setting is required. Ability to commit to part-time or full-time hours during orientation. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure. Commitment to teamwork, flexibility with assignments, and excellent communication skills.
This position is located in a regional healthcare facility serving the Midwest area of the United States.
