I am working with a well-established signage company in the Charlotte, NC area to fill a Sales Consultant role. This is a full-time, exempt position with a hybrid schedule. If you have a background in the sign industry, this one is worth a close look.
The Role This is a territory-based outside sales position focused on architectural signage. You will own lead generation, client development, quoting, project handoff to production, installation coordination. The expectation is that you manage a defined territory with discipline, build a pipeline through cold outreach, referrals, trade publications, canvassing, then close.
You will be the primary point of contact for clients from first conversation through installation. That means you need to understand materials, manufacturing processes, construction methods, permitting nuances. This is not a transactional sale. These are consultative, project-based engagements where technical credibility matters.
What You Will Be Doing
Generating leads through direct outreach, networking, referrals, trade directories, cold calling, local marketing leads provided by the company
Building relationships with architects, designers, general contractors, property managers, end users
Conducting site surveys, gathering project specifications, determining product fit
Preparing or coordinating quotes, proposals, production documents in partnership with estimating staff, project services teams
Managing client communication through the full project lifecycle to ensure satisfaction, reorders, referrals
Hitting sales quotas, maintaining gross profit margin targets outlined in the compensation plan
What They Are Looking For
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience, with preference for marketing, business, or communications backgrounds
Minimum 1 year in signage or architectural graphics (required)
Experience in construction, architecture, design, or graphics-related fields is a strong plus
Self-directed, goal-oriented, organized
Strong written, verbal communication skills with attention to detail, quality
Compensation Base salary plus commission. Full benefits package including health, dental, vision, disability insurance, 401(k) with match, PTO, work-from-home flexibility.
