- Pro Rata to 39 Hours Whole Time Equivalent Who We Are: Waterford Intellectual Disability Association (WIDA) is a community based voluntary provider of services for adults and children with an intellectual disability and/or autism in Waterford City and County.
WIDA is registered charity, with a voluntary Board of Directors, and is fully funded by the Health Service Executive.
We provide day, respite, and residential services in Waterford City and surrounding areas.
The Job: We are seeking an experienced and qualified professional to manage our day services.
We have three day service locations in Waterford City.
Our ideal candidate will be a dedicated and creative individual who want to make a positive and lasting difference to the lives of our service users and enable them to lead as fulfilling and enjoyable a life as possible.
The hours of work are 35 hours per week (pro rata to whole time equivalent of 39) Requirements of the Post: Education/Training/Experience Hold a degree or equivalent relevant qualification in a relevant discipline such as, Heath, Social Care, Nursing.
A management module on the primary qualification or a separate management qualification is essential.
Management Qualification (Level 8 Desirable) Have a minimum of 3 years' experience in management or supervisory role in the area of health or social care.
Demonstrated experience of people management, with strong IT, budget management and administration skills Full Driving Licence Knowledge of New Directions and HIQA standards.
The Role of Day Services Manager: The successful candidate will manage the day services team reporting to the Assistant Director of Nursing Day and Residential Services.
The person appointed will inspire and motivate the team to provide the highest standards of service delivery within the context of the New Directions framework.
The day services manager will lead the team to integrate plans and activities, including independent living skills, community integration, personal development, and occupational and recreational activities into the choices and supports provided to day service participants.
The day service manager will be accountable to ensure that the day services operations align with the ethos and vision of WIDA.
Responsibilities of the Position:Operation of the Service To line manage plan, develop, implement, and manage appropriate personal development, health, educational, recreational, and occupational programmes within the Day Service, in consultation with clients and the Staff team, and as directed, advised, and guided by senior management.
To facilitate the mainstream inclusion of service users into the community whenever, and wherever possible, as a core and guiding principle of all service delivery, reflecting New Directions.
To plan and develop any other service development proposals as appropriate within the area as directed, and being proactive in the development of new and innovative initiative / activities / and programmes for and in consultation with the service users.
Work in unison with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure a high-quality person-centred service.
Formulate, implement and evaluate service plans in cooperation with senior management.
Manage service user care to ensure the highest professional standards using an evidence based, care planning approach.
Contribute to formulation/develop and manage the implementation of best practice policy and procedures.
Play a central role in maintaining a safe environment for service users, staff and visitors.
Collaborate with senior management in preparing, implementing and evaluating budget and service plans for the clinical area.
Facilitate coordination, cooperation and liaison across multi-disciplinary teams and programmes.
Exercise authority in the running of the assigned area(s) as deputised by the Assistant Director of Nursing /Director of Services Pro-actively manage employee relations, liaising with senior management as required.
Provide day to day support to Staff Instil an open communications climate, facilitate team building and staff motivation.
Participate in the identification, development and delivery of education, training and development programmes for all staff.
Lead and implement change, leading to improvements to service and quality standards.
Actively manage and promote community liaison and integration of service users within their local communities in meaningful, valued roles.
Supervision & Management: Supervise staff, including managing performance, attendance, and compliance with all WIDA and regulatory policies and procedures.
Provide accurate and timely reports as required Foster a positive and productive environment.
Manage resources and time, ensuring deadlines are met, workflows are efficient, and backlogs are addressed.
Maintain all required governance and compliance standards to ensure the service is always "audit ready".
Be available outside of the normal working day if required.
