The Retail Sales Manager leads day‑to‑day retail operations, drives sales performance, oversees merchandising and inventory presentation, and develops a high‑performing team that delivers knowledgeable, solution‑oriented customer service. This individual is both a leader and a hands‑on contributor who thrives in a fast‑paced, ever‑changing environment filled with unique inventory and creative opportunities.
The ideal candidate is passionate about retail, enjoys solving problems, and understands how to create an engaging shopping experience that inspires customers to discover unexpected treasures.
Sales Leadership
Drive retail sales growth through exceptional customer service and team leadership.
Establish sales goals and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs).
Coach team members on customer engagement, product knowledge, and closing sales.
Identify opportunities to increase average transaction value and repeat customer visits.
Support promotional events, seasonal campaigns, and special sales initiatives.
Team Management
Recruit, train, schedule, and develop retail staff.
Foster a positive, accountable, and customer‑focused culture.
Conduct regular performance reviews and provide coaching.
Lead by example through active participation on the sales floor.
Ensure team members embody RBX's values of community, creativity, and problem‑solving.
Customer Experience
Create a welcoming environment that encourages discovery and exploration.
Build relationships with homeowners, designers, contractors, collectors, and DIY customers.
Help customers solve problems and find the right materials to help them move their projects forward.
Resolve customer concerns professionally and efficiently.
Serve as a knowledgeable resource regarding inventory, salvage materials, and project solutions.
Help customers envision the potential of unique architectural salvage pieces.
Merchandising & Store Operations
Oversee visual merchandising and showroom presentation.
Ensure inventory is organized, accessible, and presented in a way that highlights character, history, and value.
Execute seasonal floor sets and merchandising plans.
Maintain store cleanliness, safety, and operational standards.
Collaborate with inventory and warehouse teams to optimize product flow.
Inventory Management
Monitor inventory levels and identify merchandising opportunities.
Coordinate pricing, product placement, and inventory turnover strategies.
Work closely with vendors and internal teams to maximize inventory visibility and sales performance.
Support inventory audits and accuracy initiatives.
Community Engagement
Represent RBX's mission and values in every customer interaction.
Support community events, workshops, and special programs.
Help cultivate relationships with local designers, contractors, builders, and entrepreneurs.
Encourage customer loyalty through relationship‑building and exceptional service.
Qualifications Required
3+ years of retail management experience.
Proven success leading teams and achieving sales goals.
Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills.
Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a warehouse‑retail environment.
Comfortable using CRM, point‑of‑sale and inventory management systems.
Preferred
Experience in home improvement, furniture, architectural salvage, antiques, construction materials, design, or related industries.
Visual merchandising experience.
Knowledge of building materials, restoration, antiques, or design trends.
Experience managing inventory and operational processes.
