Direct and manage instructional program and supervise operations and personnel at campus level; provide leadership to ensure high standards of instructional service; oversee compliance with district policies and provide a safe learning environment. Master's degree from an accredited college or university

Valid Texas principal certificate

State Appraisal System training certification

Effective communication, public relations and interpersonal skills

Thorough understanding of school operations

Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction

Ability to evaluate instructional and teaching effectiveness

Ability to manage budget and personnel

Ability to coordinate campus functions and support operations

Strong organizational skills

Minimum of 3 years classroom teaching experience

Minimum of 3 years in instructional leadership roles preferred

1. Monitor instructional and managerial processes to ensure that program activities are related to program outcomes and use findings to take corrective actions.
2. Regularly meet with the CIIC about planning, operation, supervision, and evaluation of campus education program, including students and patrons when appropriate.
3. Analyze and interpret student assessment data to use in making school improvement decisions.
4. Monitor implementation of the curriculum, using the following basic strategies: A) Clinical supervision observations and conferences; B) Frequent walkthrough observations and follow-up conversations
5. Curriculum planning meetings and review of minutes of the meetings
6. Periodic review of curriculum documents
7. Translate the importance of effective curriculum and instruction practices on a regular basis.
8. Provide instructional resources and materials to support teaching staff in accomplishing instructional goals.
9. Foster collegiality and team building among staff members; encourage their active involvement in decision-making process.
10. Provide for two-way communication with superintendent, staff, students, parents, and community.
11. Communicate and promote expectations for high-level performance to staff and students; recognize excellence and achievement.
12. Ensure effective and prompt resolution of conflicts.
13. Communicate effectively with students, staff, and patrons.
14. Build common vision for school improvement with staff; direct planning activities and establish programs to ensure attainment of school's mission.
15. Identify, analyze, and apply research findings to promote school effectiveness.
16. Develop and set annual campus performance objectives for each of the academic excellence indicators.
17. Develop, maintain, and use information systems and records to show campus progress.
18. Participate in the development of campus improvement plans with staff, parents, and community members.
19. Interview, select, and orient new staff; approve personnel assigned to campus.
20. Define expectations for staff performance as related to instructional strategies, classroom management, and communication.
21. Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences with assigned staff.
22. Document performance of all campus employees when necessary.
23. Assign and promote campus personnel.
24. Make recommendations to Human Resources on renewal, non-renewal, suspension, or termination of assigned staff.
25. Work with campus-level planning and decision-making committees to plan professional development activities.
26. Confer with staff regarding their professional growth, assisting them to develop and accomplish goals.
27. Observe classes, monitor lessons, and evaluate assessment materials.
28. Provide campus-based professional development opportunities.
29. Provide opportunities for teachers to discuss and share ideas and strategies to teach the curriculum standards and objectives.
30. Comply with applicable district policies, state and federal laws, and regulations; develop campus budgets based on documented needs, estimated enrollment, personnel, and other fiscal needs; keep programs within budget limits; maintain fiscal control; accurately report fiscal information.
31. Compile, maintain, and store all physical and computerized reports, records, and other required documents, including accurate and timely reports of attendance and textbooks.
32. Manage the use of school facilities; supervise maintenance of facilities to ensure a clean, orderly, and safe campus.
33. Direct and manage co-curricular, extra-curricular, and intramural programs, including management of activity funds.
34. Develop a master schedule based on student requests and staff certifications.
35. Articulate the school's mission to community and solicit its support in realizing goals.
36. Demonstrate awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs.
37. Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage parent and community involvement.
38. Help parents understand their roles in supporting student learning of the curriculum.
39. Supervise and evaluate the performances of staff assigned to the campus including assistant principal(s), teachers, counselor(s), librarian, aides, clerical and support staff.
40. Manage and utilize data effectively for systemic process and program analysis.
41. Account for the accuracy and verification of all student program data and reports.
42. Implement data-driven decision making for improvement efforts based on best practices.
43. Manage and utilize policy effectively for maintaining systemic processes and practices.
44. Account for the verification of the correct policy regarding all decisions and correspondence.
45. Implement effective policy-driven decision making.
