The Senior Data Engineer role will be responsible for developing end to end systems for one of Navas major government partners.
The objective is to modernize an existing legacy enterprise platform to improve its public facing processes, and experiences which will enable users to have more access to the programs and services that they need, in real-time, in a more user friendly and uncomplicated way.
This individual will be involved in everything, from strategy, and planning through to post production testing, and support. \n What youll do Lead a team of 6 engineers Working with fellow Nava engineers to design, review, and build well-crafted software Working in an agile manner to efficiently ship new features that meet user needs Design and develop scalable data ingestion and processing pipelines Implement large-scale data ecosystems within cloud-based platforms that include data management and data governance of structured and unstructured data Implement data validation and quality checks to ensure accuracy and consistency Work with cross-functional project teams to gather business requirements and translate to detailed technical specifications Work with Government partners to assist and develop data engineering applications and pipelines that will enable data services and processing capabilities Participate in software design and code reviews Maintain security and privacy standards in all aspects of the data pipeline Taking part in hiring activities (e.g., submitting referrals, conducting interviews, and attending interview debriefs), as needed Required skills Open to Data Engineers At least 7 years of experience working in an agile, multidisciplinary team environment, preferably designing and building medium to large-scale on Cloud platforms At least 3 years of experience leading and mentoring engineering teams At least 3 years of experience building data services on AWS Experience building large scale data services with
FHIR/HL7 in healthcare Experience with big data technologies such Apache Spark, AWS Glue, AWS‬ Athena, Databricks‬, AWS Redshift, AWS S3 and AWS RDS Proficient writing applications and APIs in Python, Go or Java, Tenacity to dive into problems and iterate in working code Equal parts systems thinker and advocate for users Highly resourceful, reliable, and detail-oriented Ability to think strategically around trade-offs and short term vs. long term benefits An adaptive, empathetic, collaborative and positive mindset Excellent written and verbal communication skills, technical and otherwise \n $135,900 - $153,000 a year \n Other requirements All roles at Nava require the following: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Must meet any other requirements for government contracts for which candidates are hired. Work authorization that doesn’t require visa sponsorship, now or in the future. May be subject to a government background check or security clearance, depending on the contract.
