This position is responsible for the design, configuration, and advanced support of the City’s network infrastructure. Duties include maintaining network architecture, assisting with infrastructure upgrades, troubleshooting complex network issues, and providing technical guidance to infrastructure staff. The Senior Network Engineer supports the implementation of network improvements and works closely with the Assistant Director of IT – Infrastructure on planning, vendor coordination, and infrastructure initiatives.

Retirement:
As a full-time employee, you will become a member of the Texas Municipal Retirement System (TMRS) with the City of North Richland Hills making contributions towards your account. You can also put savings toward retirement in the voluntary 457 deferred compensation plan.
Vacation, Holidays, and Sick Leave:
The city offers vacation and sick leave, as well as ten paid holidays. Full time employees earn three weeks of vacation during their first year of employment and 10 hours of sick leave a month.
What We're Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and progressively responsible experience in network operations.
7-10 years’ experience administering firewalls, switches and wireless controllers. Experience with OSPF and BGP routing protocols. Proficiency with Windows Operating Systems and Linux operating systems. Additional years of experience may be acceptable in lieu of degree.
Industry recognized certification equivalent to Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), will consider CCNA with extended experience progressing towards CCNP.
ITILv4 Foundations.
Other industry certifications will be evaluated for relevance.
Valid Class C Driver License.
Must be able to pass a standard background check, as well as a background check through the FBI Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) and a drug screen.
