Principal Field Applications Engineer
Location : Bay Area, CA (Remote)
Compensation:
$170,000 - $190,000 Base Salary
Benefits:

Must Have Skill Set: 5+ years of analog circuit design and troubleshooting experience Strong analog and mixed-signal technical knowledge Hands-on lab testing, characterization, and debugging experience Customer-facing technical support experience Ability to troubleshoot complex products and system-level issues Overview:
Sterling Engineering is seeking a Principal Field Applications Engineer to join their team in a remote Bay Area-based role. This position serves as a key technical liaison between customers and engineering teams, providing expert guidance throughout the product lifecycle. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with excellent customer-facing skills to support complex design, manufacturing, and system-level challenges. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with customers, influence product roadmaps, and provide hands-on support in both customer and laboratory environments.
Job Duties:
Provide technical support to customers regarding design, fabrication, and assembly capabilities Troubleshoot and resolve complex product and system-level issues Perform hands-on testing, characterization, and validation of products and customer boards Review customer requirements and recommend solutions aligned with manufacturing capabilities Identify potential technical risks and communicate recommendations to customers and internal teams Support customers throughout product development and implementation cycles Contribute customer feedback to engineering and product development teams Define project scope and assist with project planning activities Develop and deliver technical presentations and seminars for customers and sales teams Maintain project and technical documentation Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered Minimum of 5 years of direct analog circuit design and troubleshooting experience Strong understanding of analog and mixed-signal systems Experience using laboratory equipment to test, characterize, and debug electronic systems Ability to analyze and solve complex technical issues at both product and system levels Strong communication and presentation skills Experience working directly with customers in a technical support or applications engineering capacity is preferred Qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, age, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender
