The following are core and essential responsibilities of this position. Associates are responsible for completing any and all duties assigned as required for the successful operation of our business. All associates are required to perform their job duties in a manner which upholds the integrity and honesty of our company.

• Reporting for assigned shifts on time, and on a regular basis, capable of communicating clearly and demonstrating suitable physical abilities to safely perform assigned tasks and duties, prepared to provide excellent service and leadership.
• Promoting sales through active discussions with guests, offering product recommendations, and discussing current promotions and service information. (Examples may include: and providing the best possible service to each guest based on their request, and chatting about Yoke's signature items, fresh board and sweet deal suggestions, or providing information about products).
• Renting videos and equipment to guests.
• Assisting with inventory, sales, and all other reporting duties for the department.
• Directing, coordinating, and participating in bus passes, U.S. Post Office, money orders, utilities pay station, Mt. Spokane ski vouchers, Washington or Idaho lottery, returns and exchanges of merchandise.
• Providing in-service training to all new personnel as assigned and ensuring they learn exceptional guest service, special features and services offered by the Guest Service Department, and the proper and safe operations of the following equipment: com-line, telephone, and box cutter.
• Identifying and supporting the development of associates who show promise or interest in increased responsibility.
• Monitoring power equipment to ensure performance prior to issuance to guest, contacts vendors if maintenance is necessary.
• Ordering supplies, and ancillary products to be used and/or sold in the Guest Service Department.
• Empowering associates to use "This One's On Us" cards to "Make Our Guests Crazy About Us!"
• Finding a way to make our guests happy.
• Ensuring all work performed in the department is completed in accordance with all local, state, federal and company rules, regulations, and policies regarding workplace safety, sanitation/housekeeping standards, and guest services.
• Participating actively in the Guest Service Department's accident reduction plan including: monitoring displays for trip hazards or instability, observing safe lifting techniques, and recognizing safety features of all machinery, store evacuation plan, and robbery policy.

This position's supervisory responsibilities include, but may not be limited to the following:

• Supervising, coordinating, and evaluating the activities of associates in the Guest Service Department by performing all duties personally, or through secondary personnel.
• Performing supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws including interviewing, training, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance in a timely manner; rewarding, disciplining, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
• Possessing and displaying excellent leadership and communication skills in handling associate matters.
• Implementing and enforcing company policies.

Associates degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or a minimum of one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Performs mathematical skills using units of American money and weight measurement, volume.

Applies common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions in written or oral form. Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form.

Meets the state minimum requirement to sell tobacco and/or alcohol.

Most positions within Yoke's require physical effort to varying degrees. As such, associates are expected to be mindful of practicing Yoke's safety standards at all times. This may include using personal protective equipment when and where required, understanding ergonomic safety, chemical hazards, safe lifting techniques, lockout/tag out procedures, and emergency protocol. All associates are required to report accidents within 24 hours.
