Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium has a hiring preference for qualified Alaska Native and American Indian applicants pursuant to P.L. 93-638 Indian Self Determination Act. Summary: Under the close supervision of a licensed pharmacist, performs technical duties related to pharmaceutical care in an accurate and timely manner. Responsibilities: Non-Sterile and Sterile Compounding
Prepares compounded non-sterile and sterile preparations inclusive of chemotherapy, IV additive solutions, and controlled substances for final pharmacist verification.
Correctly interprets physician orders, selects, and measures appropriate medications for compounding, compounds, ingredients, and components in a sterile and competent manner, and inspects the final product for accuracy, labels the product, maintains records of the manufacturing process, and attains a final check by a pharmacist.
Uses standard protocols to determine an accurate expiration or beyond-use date for each product prepared.
General Accurately interprets, fills, and prepares prescriptions with appropriate medications and or medical supplies for pharmacist verification.
Receives, checks, rotates, and places in stock all items received from pharmacy procurement section and identifies and reconciles any discrepancies to ensure correct items have been received.
Inventories and replenishes OR and surgical area trays, RSI Kits, etc.
Handles, manages, and distributes controlled substances in compliance with regulatory requirements and department policies; and assists with drug diversion surveillance.
Operates and maintains automated dispensing unit dose systems, complicated pharmacy equipment, and repackaging software.
Packaging of medications into single unit doses and preparation of patient-specific doses as needed.
Correctly inventories, assesses, and determines the need for floor stock and external medication.
Follows established policies and procedures, schedules, inventory levels, and usage rate reports to determine appropriate stock levels for specific areas of use.
Restock drug storage areas and refill automated drug dispensing devices in all hospital areas. Performs other duties as assigned or required. Other information: KNOWLEDGE and SKILLS

MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATION
A high school diploma or GED equivalent.

Must possess a current State of Alaska Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Intern license. PREFERRED EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION
Pharmacy or related experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
If exposure to hazardous materials and medications, sharp objects, and infectious diseases is present, must don appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE). Must operate within department's appropriate engineering controls such as negative pressure storage rooms and compounding hoods.
