The Design Release Engineer (DRE) – Battery & Charging Systems will be responsible for the development, validation, release, and lifecycle management of battery and charging system components, including 12V batteries, alternators, and Belt Starter Generators (BSG). The role serves as the technical owner of assigned components, coordinating with suppliers and cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with performance, quality, cost, and timing objectives.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field. Minimum 2 years of experience in automotive component development, preferably involving battery systems, charging systems, or electromechanical components.
Key Responsibilities
Own and manage the design release process for battery and charging system components throughout the product lifecycle. Lead component development activities from concept through production launch and ongoing support. Collaborate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure component performance, quality, timing, and cost targets are achieved. Review and approve technical specifications, drawings, validation plans, and engineering changes. Ensure compliance with automotive requirements, including packaging, environmental, durability, and regulatory standards. Support component integration within vehicle electrical/electronic (E/E) architecture. Lead Design FMEA activities and support risk mitigation efforts. Coordinate validation and verification activities to ensure component readiness and release approval. Investigate field issues, customer claims, and production concerns through structured root cause analysis. Define and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve product quality and reliability. Support continuous improvement initiatives and lessons-learned activities.
Technical Requirements
Strong knowledge of battery systems, charging systems, and electromechanical technologies. Solid understanding of: Automotive E/E Architecture Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Design FMEA Packaging and integration requirements Environmental and mechanical requirements Engineering standards and best practices Experience with technical drawing review and validation. Familiarity with supplier management and product validation processes. Knowledge of automotive quality tools and methodologies. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and technical documentation.
