About Vision To Learn Vision To Learn is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization providing vision screenings, eye exams, and glasses to K–12 students in underserved communities across the U.S. at no cost to them or their families. Using mobile vision clinics—optometric exam rooms on wheels—we bring essential eye care directly to schools and community centers so every child can see clearly and learn confidently. Since 2012, Vision To Learn has provided more than 3.8 million vision screenings, 750,000 eye exams, and 630,000 pairs of glasses to children in need across the nation. We are looking for an Optician like you to join our team with a positive, proactive attitude, and commitment to our mission. Position Description Vision To Learn is currently seeking a qualified candidate for a full-time Georgia Optician position. This is a field-based role supporting mobile vision clinics that serve students at schools, summer programs, and community-based sites throughout Georgia. The Optician will primarily work during school-based hours, Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays throughout the year based on program and event needs. While most clinic operations occur during the school day, this position may also require occasional work outside of school hours to complete documentation, patient records, inventory management, scheduling support, and other operational responsibilities. This role follows the academic school calendar and includes peak operational periods during the school year and summer programming. Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, mobile healthcare environment that requires flexibility, organization, professionalism, and strong customer service skills. The ideal candidate is patient-focused, detail-oriented, comfortable working with children of all ages and abilities, and able to work independently while supporting a collaborative field team environment. Key Position Responsibilities Include
Oversee assigned mobile eye clinic operations and support efficient patient flow throughout the day Conduct eye exam pre-tests while maintaining optimal professional and patient care standards Take measurements, fit, and adjust frames for patients according to written optical prescriptions Assist patients with frame selections to ensure proper fit, comfort, and patient satisfaction Complete and prepare daily reports and documentation in a timely manner while meeting required deadlines Make follow-up calls to patient caregivers for feedback and patient support as needed Conduct vision screenings using a Welch Allyn Spot Vision Screener Study, understand, and follow all Vision To Learn health and safety protocols Provide a positive, patient-centered experience for students, school staff, and families at all times Demonstrate the ability to effectively work with students of all ages, ranging from 4 to 18 years old Be comfortable and equipped to work with students with special needs and varying behavioral, developmental, and communication needs Maintain professionalism, patience, flexibility, and strong interpersonal skills in a fast-paced school and community environment Communicate effectively and compassionately with children, caregivers, school staff, and team members
Clinic Responsibilities
Maintain optimal driver safety standards when driving, parking, and operating the mobile clinic vehicle Set up the clinic daily, monitor and replenish inventory, and ensure all patient and administrative paperwork supports an efficient workflow Load, secure, inspect, and fuel the vehicle as necessary Keep the vehicle, clinic, and internal work areas clean, organized, and professional at all times Ensure the mobile clinic remains stocked with necessary clinical, administrative, and operational supplies Coordinate and assist with vehicle maintenance needs, including taking the clinic vehicle for washing, routine maintenance, repairs, inspections, and auto body shop appointments as needed Promptly report vehicle concerns, maintenance issues, or supply shortages to management Assist in maintaining the overall appearance, cleanliness, and operational readiness of the clinic vehicle for daily use

Ability to display exceptional interpersonal skills when interacting with children, site contacts, patient families, and in all internal/external work interactions Desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and have technical skills Desire to be cross trained to expand your skillset Self-starter who is confident to implement Vision To Learn protocols and embrace a remote setting with limited supervision Excellent organizational and prioritization skills Strong interpersonal and written communication skills Able to lift up to 20 lbs. and to exert well-paced mobility for an 8-hour shift including standing, walking, bending and squatting
Qualifications
Optician Diploma; Optician Certification (COA, COT, NCLE, and ABO) preferred by not required Valid driver's license required, with a good driving record and familiarity with greater Atlanta metro area and with phone GPS; driving transcript must be provided Successful track record of working with children and diverse types of people Must pass company and CMS background checks and drug test Experience using Microsoft Office – Outlook, Excel, Word; ability to quickly learn EHR reporting, and project management systems is a plus Spanish skills a plus
