Part-TimeOverviewNaphCare is hiring a Part-Time Weekend Night Shift Charge Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team at the Washoe County Jail in Reno, NV. This leadership opportunity offers competitive pay of $47.37-$50.00/hour, plus shift differential, making it an excellent option for experienced nurses seeking additional income, schedule flexibility, and leadership experience.
As a Correctional Charge RN, you'll serve as a clinical leader, working alongside correctional officers and a multidisciplinary healthcare team to deliver high-quality patient care while supporting daily nursing operations. You'll help coordinate care, provide clinical guidance to nursing staff, respond to complex medical needs, and play a key role in ensuring continuity of care for an underserved patient population.

ResponsibilitiesThe Charge Registered Nurse coordinates shift activities and performs a wide range of duties, including assessing patients, administering medications, managing emergencies, and ensuring adherence to established protocols and procedures. Duties and responsibilities may include and are not limited to:
Performing initial health screenings and physical assessments of newly detained individuals Monitoring and documenting patient health including vital signs, medical histories Conducting daily clinical rounds, providing direct patient care, triaging, assessing patient needs, developing care plans, and coordinating services Responding to medical emergencies, providing first aid, and ensuring timely transport to appropriate healthcare facilities Educating patients on preventative care, healthy lifestyle choices, and substance abuse prevention Understanding and adhering to correctional facility security protocols, while working closely with correctional officers and other healthcare professionals, to ensure the safety and well-being of patients Maintaining accurate medical records, documenting treatment plans, and reporting any relevant information QualificationsExperience / Requirements / Qualifications
Holds a current, unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse within the state of Nevada
Must possess an active BLS/CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening Two years of full time RN experience with knowledge of nursing practice principles and techniques, occupational health and safety standards, infectious disease management, applicable health care laws, regulations, and procedures for direct health care services. Ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills Able to work independently and in a team Flexible schedule and availability to work overtime when needed Integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
Physical Capabilities: Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
