Certified Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant Opportunity

Lakeside Behavioral Health System provides an excellent opportunity for those seeking to be part of a team-oriented and compassionate organization. Since 1969, Lakeside has been the premier provider of specialized behavioral health and addictive disease services in the Memphis and Mid-South region. The 365-bed facility is one of the largest free-standing psychiatric hospitals in the United States. We are located on a serene 37-acre campus in northeast Shelby County, serving as the setting for the treatment for children, adolescents, young adults, adults and seniors. Lakeside's comprehensive programs treat disorders such as bipolar disorder, psychological trauma, depression and anxiety, mental illnesses and addictive disease disorders such as alcoholism, drug addiction and substance abuse.

The Certified Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant creates a safe environment for patients, saves lives when necessary, provides hope, empowers patients, and teaches new tools for coping to patients. The Certified Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant provides direct patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. Primary responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention, individual/family education groups and activities of daily living.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma/equivalent and formal nursing or medical assistant training program required.
  • (2) years work experience with the psychiatric patient population highly preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification: State Nurse Aide certification required.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of psychiatric group processes, therapeutic relationships processes, age specific growth and development, limit setting and behavior management, crisis management with aggressive behaviors, and CPR training preferred.
