Job Summary
Payroll Tax Analyst provide subject matter expertise and guidance across all areas of payroll tax such as, labor & employment tax regulations, federal, state, and local tax legislations, reciprocity rules, multi-state taxation and process adjustments for W-2s, and W-2c's. Prepares or reviews a variety of tax related documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance with applicable guidelines and regulations. Job Duties: Performs tax reconciliations and determines liability for accounts, divisions, or business units. Assists in the preparation and distribution of tax forms. Answers questions and research discrepancies. Research, interpret, and understand existing or revised tax codes, laws, or forms. Modifies work procedures to reflect changes in tax law or code.
Responsibilities
Support Payroll Tax and Audit Administrator in analyzing multi-state payroll tax data and perform calculations, and ensure that payroll information is reported to federal, state and local agencies as may be requiredConduct Payroll Analysis for each pay cycle to ensure that payroll taxes withheld are correct with tax filings to agenciesInvestigate and resolve payroll tax discrepancies, providing clear explanations to employeesAssist with weekly administration of payroll Tax activities such as federal, state & local withholdings for assigned legal entities including distribution of tax remittances according to tax jurisdiction guidelinesSupport the preparation and processing of accurate and timely federal, multi-state and multi-jurisdiction withholding tax paymentsSupport inquiries from employees regarding W-2 issues and correctionsDocument tax procedures to ensure standard operation procedures (SOPs) are in place for all processesHandle all SUI & SIT Credits with managementAssist Payroll Tax and Audit Administrator with all workers' compensation, tax and unemployment auditsWork closely with Payroll, Finance and Corporate Tax teams
Minimum Requirements
Associate Degree in Business Administration/Finance or equivalent level of knowledge in a relevant field2+ years of payroll or finance experienceIn-depth knowledge of federal and state payroll and tax regulationsFPC, CPP, CPA or CMA desiredExcellent customer service skills with an ability to effectively handle and resolve employee inquires and issuesProficient in using MS Word, Excel, Access and Internet ExplorerAbility to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion.Demonstrated high degree of professionalism and integrity.Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines
Preferred Skills
Excellent problem solving/judgment skills, and high level of attention to detail and accuracyStrong organizational skills and the ability to work under pressure
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
This position is performed in a standard office environment and is primarily sedentary in natureRequires prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer, including frequent use of a keyboard and mouseMust be able to effectively communicate and exchange information in a professional office settingAbility to view computer screens and review detailed data for extended periods with a high degree of accuracyOccasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching may be required within the officeMay occasionally lift and/or move items up to 15 pounds (e.g., files, documents, office supplies)Work is performed in a climate-controlled environment with minimal exposure to adverse conditionsRequires the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, particularly during payroll cycles, quarter-end, and year-end processingRegular and reliable attendance is required to meet operational needs
