Qualifications: Required Education: GED or High School Diploma Specific course work: Monitor Technicians must successfully complete an EKG/Dysrhythmia course within 90 days of hire. Preferred Education: PCA, Medic Corpsman, or a nursing student having completed the first clinical rotation successfully Necessary Skills: -Basic medical terminology. -Knowledge of standard precautions, recognizing obvious job related emergencies. -An awareness of ethical and legal responsibilities as they relate to the job. -Ability to read EKG arrhythmias. -Demonstrates the essential knowledge necessary to effectively monitor patients for seizure activity connected to an Epilepsy Monitor (EMU) Required Licensure/Certifications: Within 6 months of hire, must attend unit-based courses relative to specialized area. Required Experience: Less than one year of related experience Preferred Experience: One year or more working in a health care environment as a monitor technicianCompétences linguistiques
