JOB SUMMARY
The Coordinator Radiology Clinical Education is a Radiographer who plans, coordinates, and oversees the clinical education activities for Radiology students and newly hired staff. Responsibilities include clinical instruction, supervision, evaluation, orientation, counseling, performance feedback, and maintenance of required documentation to support a compliant and effective learning environment for multiple colleges. Maintains clinical competence in radiologic sciences and patient care to support the delivery of high-quality diagnostic imaging services as a departmental radiographer and serves as a clinical resource and role model. Ensures all educational records and activities comply with JRCERT accreditation standards and departmental policies. Acts as a liaison with the hospital's Department of Education. Perform Lead Technologist duties as required or requested to support departmental operations and staffing needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for the clinical instruction, supervision, evaluation, orientation, counseling and documentation associated with the clinical experience of the radiology students.
Responsible for the coordination and documentation of educational programs for the departments.
Responsible for helping provide radiation monitoring and education.
Participation in Hospital Radiation Safety Committee as needed.
Demonstrates excellent technical skills.
Instructs staff and students in specific tasks and job techniques, making sure protocols are accurately followed including adult and pediatrics.
Demonstrates excellent organizational and communication skills.
Maintains student schedules across all NCH locations for FSW, Keiser, Rasmussen, and John Patrick University, in addition to any future colleges.
Acts as liaison with hospital's Department of Education. Acts as Lead Technologist as required or requested.
Produces images which demonstrate a thorough knowledge of radiographic technique (collimation, markers, and patient demographics), anatomical positions and equipment performance.
Performs examinations efficiently with repeat rate consistent with department standards.
Follow standard precautions.
Assists with annual lead apron integrity checks. Locating missing lead aprons and shields for annual inspections.
Resolves simple informal complaints of staff and refers others to Radiology Administration.
Complies with JCAHO rules and regulations and assist with the ongoing training of staff, identifying areas of opportunity for improvement
Demonstrates, supports, and follows policies for the Radiography Student Program and attends college meetings.
Provides all aspects of patient care based on established standards. Demonstrates competency in all procedures within scope of practice, as appropriate to the ages of patients served; the ability to obtain information and interpret information in terms of the patient's needs; knowledge of growth and development and an understanding of the range of treatment of the patients.
Participate in the peer review and interview process.
Demonstrates competency and advanced applications using the Radiographic Information System, EMR, and PACS.
Completes staff evaluations in a timely manner.
Assures timely completion of patient imaging and assignments ensuring they meet organizational objectives.
Assist with Quality Assurance of images to meet the requirements of the State of Florida repeat rates, educate staff as necessary for image quality improvement.
Demonstrates competency in Departmental communication (telephone, Rovers, Haiku, Amion).
Maintains clean and well stocked work area.
Preceptor for training and orientation of new employees. Ensures each new employee completes the new employee checklists, weekly evaluations, and department orientation.
Strives to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with all employees.
Understands the principles and concepts of Performance Improvement. Looks for opportunities and solutions for process improvements and seeks to improve job skills.
Works with selected individuals who shadow the department to learn about entering the field of Radiology from local high schools, colleges, and internal employees.
Provides on-site orientation and recruitment sessions at FSW, Keiser, and Rasmussen for future students to support the NCH organization, as well as attend any job fairs on or off campus
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
High School or GED required.
Satisfactory completion of a formal Radiologic Technology Program in an approved school.
ARRT registered in R (Radiology).
Licensed as a Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) in the State of Florida.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
Minimum of 2 years' experience in Radiography required.
