Postdoctoral Scientist - TRANSFORM The Centre for Applied Bioscience Research (CABR) is a Research Centre and Technology Gateway that is a collaboration between Munster Technological University and the Technological University of the Shannon: Midlands Midwest. The CABR Technology Gateway is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union through the ERDF Southern, Eastern & Midland Regional Programme 2021-27. CABR currently has a vacancy for a Postdoctoral Scientist with high self-motivation and organisational skills to support the multi-partner TRANSFORM project. TRANSFORM addresses key societal, environmental, and economic challenges in Just Transition regions by developing and validating scalable circular business models that enable food producers to convert agri-food by-products into high value functional ingredients through state-of-the-art bioprocessing. The project prioritises a centralised model where solid-state fermentation (SSF) and drying technologies are leveraged to create functional ingredients that will generate innovation and growth for customers and consumers. The work that the Postdoctoral Scientist will contribute to is in the screening of fermented and non-fermented upcycled waste streams for pro-active nutrition outcomes anti oxidant, anti-inflammatory and modulation of gut microbiome. The TRANSFORM project is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Union through the EU Just Transition Fund Programme 2021-2027. CABR responds to the challenges of biotech, food and life science industries through the sustainable development of viable and cost-effective processes and products from bioresources. This collaborative and risk management approach improves our clients competitiveness and competence and facilitates the transfer of these innovative scientific solutions. CABR have significant expertise in bioresources, biotechnology and mammalian cell culture and deliver a range use-inspired projects, particularly with Irish enterprises, to help them to solve specific R&D challenges. Minimum Qualifications Applicants must hold a minimum of an PhD degree in a biological or chemical discipline or related science field. Requirements: Essential: PhD in a biological or chemical science discipline including at least 3 years relevant experience in academia or industry Experience of delivering industry projects Aseptic mammalian and bacterial cell culture experience Cellular bioassay development and use of multiplex instruments Excellent demonstrated interpersonal skills Good organisational skills Report writing experience Publication track record Practical experience of data analytics, statistical packages and presentation techniques Excellent demonstrated interpersonal skills Good organisational skills Desirable: Experience in biotechnology Experience in biological extract preparation Job Duties and Responsibilities Plan, coordinate and deliver mammalian and bacterial cell culture studies Engage with external members of the TRANSFORM project team Prepare study reports Prepare scientific manuscripts for publication Work with other team members as directed by the project lead Contribute to efficient running of the laboratory Salary: This post is available for 36 months contract duration.
