Job Responsibilities
- Accurately dispense prescription medications to patients according to physician orders and pharmacy regulations
- Review prescriptions for clinical appropriateness, potential drug interactions, allergies, and contraindications
- Counsel patients on proper medication usage, potential side effects, storage, and adherence to therapy
- Provide immunizations and other health screenings in compliance with state laws and pharmacy protocols
- Manage and verify insurance claims and prior authorizations to facilitate medication access
- Maintain accurate and complete patient medication records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA
- Oversee the day‐to‐day operations of the retail pharmacy, including inventory management, ordering, and storage of pharmaceuticals
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as accreditation standards governing pharmacy practice
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize patient medication therapy and resolve prescription‐related issues
- Educate pharmacy staff and technicians on policies, procedures, and best practices to maintain quality and safety standards
- Respond to patient inquiries and provide professional advice on over‐the‐counter medications and general health concerns
Position Qualifications
Minimum Required:
- A Bachelor's of Science Degree (B.S.) or Pharm.D. in Pharmacy from an accredited college or university
- Licensed as a Pharmacist in New York State or NYS internship permit
Preferred:
- One year experience as a pharmacist
