Position Summary
The Preventative Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing routine inspections, preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a fleet of diesel vehicles. This role focuses on identifying issues before they become breakdowns while maintaining the highest safety and quality standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspections, safety checks, and repairs on diesel vehicles
- Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems
- Utilize vehicle computer diagnostic systems to identify failure modes and adjust engine and vehicle control modules
- Respond to road calls for emergency repairs as needed
- Review, complete, and/or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs)
- Accurately complete required documentation using fleet maintenance software
- Test drive vehicles after repairs and services to ensure safe operation
- Assist other mechanics and team members as needed
- Maintain professional and courteous relationships with drivers and coworkers
- Keep the shop and work areas clean, safe, and compliant with company and OSHA standards
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For
- Proficiency with diesel diagnostic tools, preventative maintenance, and repair
- Basic mechanical tool set
- Hydraulic systems experience preferred
- Strong attention to safety and detail
- Dependable, team‑oriented work ethic
