Old Dominion University is hiring a Senior Systems Administrator to design, implement, support, and maintain the Department of Computer Science's IT infrastructure. The role involves overseeing network attached storage, servers, desktops, and major operating systems while providing technical leadership and supervision to staff and student workers.
Highlights
Design, implement, and maintain IT infrastructure including network attached storage, desktops, servers, and large-scale digital storage.
Support MS Windows Server and desktop OS, UNIX server environment, IT security, virtualization, and major operating systems.
Provide technical leadership and supervise one classified employee and several student workers.
Requires strong knowledge of MS Windows Server OS (2003-current), Windows desktop OS (Vista-current), UNIX systems, and network administration including routers and switches.
Experience with Solaris, Linux, AFS, NFS, TSM software, .NET, C, C++, Perl programming languages.
Certifications preferred: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) and Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Extensive experience with system design, security, patching, client support, and complex network infrastructure.
Work requires evening and weekend availability for system issue resolution.
Salary is commensurate with education and experience; criminal background check required.
