Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Staff Principal Software Engineer – Cloud and Applications to join our diverse team in ElSegundo, CA. The role focuses on adapting mobile control station software to a cloud environment, building Infrastructure‑as‑Code (IaC), containerizing solutions, and ensuring security, integration, and system test readiness. Relocation & Travel Relocation assistance may be available. Travel requirement: Yes, 10% of the time. Clearance No clearance required at start; candidate must obtain and maintain a U.S. Government clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) within a reasonable period. Key Responsibilities Adapt mobile control station software applications to a cloud environment. Develop and maintain Infrastructure‑as‑Code (IaC) for cloud deployment. Implement containerization, instrumentation, integration, security, and system testing. Collaborate with multi‑disciplinary teams, including Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, Cloud & Application, and DevOps, in an Agile environment. Qualifications Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited university with 12 years of experience; OR Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline with 10 years of relevant experience; OR PhD in a STEM discipline with 4 years of relevant experience. Experience with infrastructure components (VMs, containers, network, storage, Linux/Windows, and IT security concepts). Experience with Infrastructure‑as‑Code (IaC), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and microservices. Experience with software‑defined networking. Proficiency in a coding or scripting language (C, C++, Java, Python). Experience with Agile methodologies and tools (Atlassian suite: Jira, Confluence). Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering. Active Secret or higher clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI). Associate level or higher certification in a cloud platform (Azure, AWS). CompTIA Security+ and/or CompTIA Cloud+ certification. Experience administering cloud‑based networking (ACL, Security Groups, WAF). Demonstrated experience in cloud adoption, environment prototyping, and data migration. Knowledge of account management solutions (RBAC, AWS IAM, Azure AD). Expertise leveraging Git for code management (ArgoCD, Flux, Gitlab). Experience leading technical teams.
