Position Details Title: Principal Machine Learning Engineer – Gen AI, Machine Learning, Graph ML Type: Full time Location: Seattle, WA / San José, CA Reports to: Director of Software Systems Engineering Application Deadline: Rolling basis until filled Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the relevant country Scope: Our AI Core group pioneers platforms for Generative AI, including AI agents, RAG, knowledge bases, data mining, anomaly detection, and LLM fine‑tuning. These innovations power flagship Extreme products and enable new offerings, driving a shift in network management through intelligent, high‑performance multi‑agent systems. Responsibilities Lead design and execution of strategic machine learning solutions across products and platforms. Own end‑to‑end software development lifecycle: design, testing, deployment, and operations; lead technical discussions and participate in design and code reviews. Create high‑performance microservices architectures for synchronous and asynchronous web services. Enable real‑time online inference for complex models using Triton, TensorRT, and mixed‑precision computing. Mentor and develop engineering team members, setting technical direction and fostering a collaborative culture. Maintain technical rigor and operational excellence, building resilient, scalable systems and driving process improvements. Basic Qualifications Degree in mathematics, computer science, or related discipline. 5–10 years of experience in the full software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, and operations. 5–10 years of experience in Python and deep knowledge of its advanced features and libraries. Expertise in designing RESTful APIs and experience with FastAPI. Proficiency with Docker, Kubernetes, and modern CI/CD practices. 3+ years leading the design and architecture of large distributed systems, preferably on AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud. Experience mentoring or leading engineering teams. Preferred Qualifications MS or PhD in Computer Science or equivalent experience in ML. Experience with PyTorch, SageMaker, Triton, TensorRT, or similar ML technologies. Experience with NoSQL and document databases. Ability to handle big data, optimize workflows, and improve system performance. Compensation and Benefits Salary: $170,000–$240,000 per year, based on qualifications and region, plus performance‑based bonus and full benefits package.
